The Jordan hotel style room featuring two full size beds side by side, was named after Shug Jordan, who will always be considered “The Auburn Football Coach”. In the ’60s, Shug and “The Bear” were the dominate sports personalities in the state. . A versatile athlete, Jordan lettered in football while being considered the best basketball player on the team. Upon graduation, he immediately became the basketball coach, while he also coached the freshman football team. After joining the service during WWII, where Jordan participated in two invasions, Jordan returned to Auburn briefly and left to be the Head Basketball Coach at Georgia. After a few years, he applied and was offered the Head Football Coaching job at Auburn, where he returned in 1955. He retired after the 1975 season.
