The Nichols room is located in the Main House. It features a queen bed in the main sleeping room, and an additional full size bed in an adjacent room from which the private bath is attached. The room was named after George Postell’s (former owner) mother’s first cousin, who attended Auburn in the late 1930′s. Bill was the Captain of the football team, and later was a decorated US Army Officer who was seriously wounded in the Battle of Hurtagen Forrest. After the war, Bill became an eleven term US Congressman in the US House of Representatives where he died while at work at his desk in 1988. He was a two term member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees.
